About 2nd AUN-HPC

Brief Description

The 2nd International Health Promotion Conference: Moving towards Healthy Universities in Asia, will be jointly hosted by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) and the University of the Philippines (UP) on 20-22 August 2019 at Novotel Manila Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. This conference aims to develop AUN member universities to become health-promoting universities by providing an opportunity for them to share their knowledge and experiences on health promotion. The gathering also aims to highlight collaborative approaches for the implementation of the “Healthy Universities Framework.” The conference expects about 300 participants from AUN and non-AUN universities composed of experts, researchers, academics, and students. It will facilitate new collaboration that will promote an exchange of research findings in specific areas of concern, thus increasing the number of cross-national comparative studies, and the formulation of needed policy guidelines.

Rationale/Significance

The ASEAN University Network-Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) is a thematic network of AUN, which was established in 2014.  Its primary aim is to create a platform for ASEAN higher education institutions for collaboration and networking among themselves and with other key stakeholders in order to enhance the health promotion efforts in the region.

One of the ways to encourage collaboration among AUN HPN member and non-member universities is through an international conference where sharing of knowledge, skills and resources to build capacity for health promotion, and to develop innovative solutions to common health challenges in the region could be facilitated.
